Our curriculum-based BJJ and Martial Arts classes are designed for students of all ability levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners.
BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU (BJJ)
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on forcing an opponent to the ground, acquiring a dominant position, and then submitting that opponent via joint locks, chokeholds, and/or strangles. It is particularly suited for women and smaller individuals as it utilizes leverage and position as force multipliers. As taught by head BJJ coach Chad Vazquez at Paxibellum, we differentiate between the three areas of sport jiu-jitsu, self-defense, and mixed martial arts. All levels are welcome, from absolute beginner to BJJ black belt.
PEKITI TIRSIA KALI
Pekiti Tirsia Kali is a Filipino martial art of blades, sticks, knives, empty hands, and a combination of these weapons. This particular system favors close quarters training over a long distance or medium range. As taught by head PTK Mataas Na Guro Agapito Gonzalez, at Paxibellum, we focus on weapons work as force multipliers, focusing on stickwork as that translates to everyday items such as pens and knives, rolled-up magazines, and other weapons of opportunity. Lakan Guro Logan Lo assists. All levels from all schools are welcome, from absolute beginner to kali gurus.
JUDO
Judo was created in 1882 by Jigoro Kano as a martial art that focuses primarily on throwing or taking down an opponent to the ground in order to immobilize or otherwise subdue the opponent via a pin or submission. It was accepted as an Olympic sport in 1960. As taught by Judo Black Belt, Steve Pak at Paxibellum, we are focused on making Judo approachable, fun, and unintimidating for beginners while teaching with the student’s safety and enjoyment in mind. All levels are welcome, from absolute beginner to judo black belt.
